Charles Black City Park Renovation Begins

Charles Black City Park will officially close on July 25th, the City Pool will also be closing on July 31st.

The greatly anticipated Charles Black City Park Renovation Project begins this Sunday, July 25th. The Park will officially close on Sunday until the completion of the project estimated to be Spring 2022.

The Park project will add restrooms, concession stands, all new tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball fields, parking, lighting, walking trails, and a new playground area. The project, an estimated 3.8 million dollars, will completely change the layout and feel of the current park and modernize all facilities.

“This is a long time coming, our citizens have been waiting for this project for years and we’re exciting to get started.” says Mayor Billy Phelps.

Work has already started removing all fencing in the park (photos). The next phase in the construction will consist of grading work by Scotty’s Contracting in the coming weeks. Check back for future updates.

No entry will be permitted during the construction phase, any illegal trespassing will be criminally charged by the City Police.
